People have been using different technologies for a long to make their works easy. In our communities too, people used many traditional technologies which are no longer in practice. Meet some elderly people in your community and ask them about such technologies. Write a report and share it to the class.


Introduction: People have been using different technologies to make their work easier for centuries. However, with the advancement of technology, many traditional technologies are no longer in practice. In this project work, we will meet some elderly people in our community and ask them about such technologies.


Methodology: To gather information about traditional technologies, we decided to meet elderly people in our community. We formed a group of six students and divided ourselves into three pairs. Each pair was assigned a specific area of our community to visit.


We interviewed several elderly people who had firsthand experience with traditional technologies that are no longer in practice. We recorded their responses and took notes to compile a report.


Findings: We met several elderly people who shared their experiences with us. Some of the traditional technologies that they mentioned are as follows:


Oil lamps: Oil lamps were used before electricity became commonplace. They were used to light up homes during power outages or when there was no electricity. These lamps used kerosene oil, which was readily available at that time.


Hand-operated water pumps: Before electric water pumps were introduced, hand-operated water pumps were used to draw water from wells. These pumps were operated by hand and were commonly used in rural areas where electricity was not available.


Manual typewriters: Manual typewriters were used before computers became widespread. They were used by writers, journalists, and clerks to type letters, articles, and official documents. These machines required a lot of skill to operate, and mistakes were hard to correct.


Gramophones: Gramophones were used before radios and cassette players became common. They were used to play music records and were a popular source of entertainment. Gramophones required regular maintenance and were expensive to buy.


Conclusion:


In conclusion, people have been using different technologies to make their work easier for centuries. Traditional technologies that were once commonplace have now been replaced by more modern technologies. By meeting elderly people in our community, we learned about some traditional technologies that are no longer in practice. This project helped us to appreciate the advancements in technology that have made our lives easier today.
